Racehorse names may never be used more than once, and sometimes they may not be used at all. This is because of the strict rules that relate to the naming of equines. For instance, racehorse names may not contain more than 18 letters – and that includes spaces. Also, they cannot be named if the spelling or pronunciation is either insulting or obscene. Rude “foreign” words can’t be used either.
